Description

Named for the Founder, Gary Knisley and his wife, Varian, the Foundation aims to demonstrate that smartly guided exposure to the arts will positively impact an individual's intellection and social skills and ultimately contribute to improving the world. The Foundation's New Arts Education Initiative works with new, untested initiatives based on a broad range of artistic expressions. Something untried but with exciting possibilities is of particular interest, but programs that extend a current program into a new area or include a creative, but impactful, new wrinkle will be seriously considered. Grants are awarded to organizations located in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions that are within a five-hour, non-airline trip from the Foundation's headquarters in New York City (New York City, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, Delaware, New York, Virginia, District of Columbia, and West Virginia. Letters of inquiry are accepted between Sept. 27 and Sept. 30. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
