The William P. Wharton Trust

Description

Created by one of the presidents of the National Parks Association, the Trust supports nonprofits that promote the conservation, study, and appreciation of nature. Priority is given to: conservation of renewable resources in Massachusetts and New England including funding acquisition of land for conservation purposes; management techniques designed to improve environmental quality and species diversity; bird and forestry research and management (especially at the applied level rather than the theoretical or molecular levels); and creation of materials or grants designed to foster an appreciation of and a concern for wildlife and natural systems. The Trust generally does not support long-term projects, projects that will only impact a small area or population, or projects that are so large that a grant from the Trust would comprise only a s mall fraction of the total project funding. Grants are awarded primarily in Massachusetts and New England. Visit the Web site for additional information and application instructions.
