Big Lots Foundation
DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the national Retailer. It invests in partnerships aimed at improving and enriching the lives of families and children. The Foundation awards grants in the areas of Health Care, Housing, Hunger, and Education. Health care grants are awarded to programs that improve health care through research and education, provide preventive education and care, and/or provide affordable critical medical care. Housing grants support programs that prevent families or individuals from losing their homes, provide affordable stable housing, and/or provide emergency shelter for families and individuals. Hunger grants provide support to programs that provide nutritious food or meals, provide emergency food assistance, and/or education families or individuals about the importance of health eating. Education grants provide support to programs that provide a service-learning curriculum aligned with education standards,, promote servant-leadership through academic and experiential learning, and/or improve classroom learning outcomes through innovation. Applicants must be located in communities where the Retailer operates stores or distribution centers: Columbus, Ohio; Tremont, Pennsylvania; Durant, Oklahoma; Montgomery, Alabama; Rancho Cucamonga, California or where it has its corporate office in Columbus, Ohio.
