Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation

Category

: Regional

Description

The Foundation engages family members in meaningful, responsible philanthropy that promotes the welfare of human and natural resources. The Foundation's Sustainable Forests and Communities Initiative seeks to promote the creation of environmentally and economically sustainable forest communities in the regions of the United States where the Weyerhaeuser family's business interests originated - Idaho, Oregon, Washington, northern California, western Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Initiative supports projects within specific communities that promoted, in an integrated fashion, forest ecology, the creation of jobs or businesses based on sustainable forestry, and public consensus building on how best to go forward in these areas. Priority is given to projects that promote vibrant forest-based communities that address one or more of the following areas: environment, economy, community, and forest ecosystem services. The Foundation may consider funding exceptional projects outside of its normal geographic regions. Visit the Web site for more information.
