DescriptionThe Corporation’s philanthropic division supports charitable organizations in more than 30 communities around the globe. The Corporation is the world’s second largest producer of copper and the world’s largest publicly traded copper producer. Grants are made in five areas: education, community safety, environment, arts and culture, and community/civic development. Within each of the funding areas, the Foundation’s funding priorities include programs that meet the needs of each community’s diverse and unique populations including minorities, the disabled, the elderly, women, and the disadvantaged. Of particular interest are programs with measurable results although the Foundation has previously awarded funds for general operating support. The Foundation only awards monies to projects and organizations in communities where they have a presence. Applications must be postmarked by August 1 of each year.
