Description

Founded by contemporary composer Elliott Carter and his wife, Helen, was established to encourage the performances of contemporary concert music, particularly by American composers, through support to performing and presenting organizations that have demonstrated sustained artistic excellence. The Foundation's mission is to promote excellence in, and public appreciation of, contemporary concert music, particularly by American composers. Grants are awarded to publicly supported nonprofit performing ensembles, presenters, festivals, and music service organizations that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary concert music at a high level of excellence. Applicant organizations must have been in existence for at least two years at the time of application. In general, the Foundation does not support jazz music. Visit the Web site for additional information as COVID has changed some of the requirements.
