Description

The Foundation's Neighbor to Neighbor Fund supports grassroots efforts in South Seattle, White Center, and Kent that increase the engagement, power, and influence of community members affected by poverty and racial disparities with the goal of igniting powerful and rewarding philanthropy to make Greater Seattle a stronger, more vibrant community for all. Grants will be awarded in support of grassroots efforts dedicated to achieving these goals, including 1) work that builds the capacity of community members to organize and lead positive change in their communities; 2) work that mobilizes community members to work with others to take action or that advocate for policy change; 3) programs that build trust and relationships within and among community members with a goal of increasing equity and improving the community; and 4) programs that build partnerships and coalitions among groups and institutions to work together for more equitable neighborhoods. The Foundation prioritizes efforts led by people from underinvested communities, including communities of color, Black, Indigenous, immigrant/refugee, and low-income communities. Additional information including the definition of "South Seattle" for purposes of the grant can be found on the Web site.
