Strong Foundation For Environmental Values
DescriptionThe Foundation traces its roots back to an Episcopal School, St. Margaret's House, located in Berkeley, Calif. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking in support of efforts that instill an ecological ethic in individuals and communities and that encourage grassroots environmental action. The Foundation's interest includes projects focused on grassroots action, environmental education, capacity building, citizen participation, collaborations, innovation, planning and training, and climate change. The Foundation will award grants in California, with a focus on Northern California, the Central Valley, and the Sierra Nevada (including the entire California-Oregon Klamath River watershed and the watersheds that arise in the Sierras and terminate in Nevada's terminal lakes). The Foundation defines Northern California as extending from the Oregon border south to and ending at the northern boundaries of San Luis Obispo, Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino county lines.
