The Needmor Fund

DescriptionThe Fund, created by the founders of the Champion Spark Plug Company, works with others to bring about social justice. The Fund seeks to remove systemic barriers to the practice of democracy by encouraging the efforts of people who are working together for justice and the common good. It also encourages involvement in community affairs by people whose participation as been systematically denied and fosters the active participation of all citizens in crafting a vision, values and policies that are more equitable. The Fund's Core Grants Program focuses on supporting grassroots community organizing in the Midwest, specifically Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Grants are awarded to grassroots, membership-base community organizations that are democratically led, engaged in direct action campaigns, and committed to leadership development.
