Classics For Kids Foundation
Category: Music
DescriptionThe Foundation was formed in 1998 in response to the decline of music performance education programs for young people. The Foundation?s mission is to support young people and the programs that serve them by offering matching grants for fine stringed instruments. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on at-risk and rural youth, with the premise that learning a complex musical instrument brings with it a host of lifelong benefits. Through the grantmaking program, the Foundation awards grants to schools or nonprofits to support the incorporation of string instruments into music education programs. All instruments in the string family are supported including guitars and ukuleles. Programs must serve children from kindergarten through grade 12. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
