The Yapp Charitable Trust
Category: International
DescriptionThe Trust was named for William Johnston Yapp, a United Kingdom cigarette manufacturer and philanthropist. The Trust makes grants for programs and projects in England or Wales that are unattractive to the general public or unpopular with other funders. It also supports services that help to improve the lives of marginalized, disadvantaged or isolated people. Grants will help fund programs and projects for elderly people; children and youth ages 5 to 25; people with physical impairments, learning disabilities, or mental health challenges; education and learning with a particular interest in people who are educationally disadvantaged (whether adults or children) and social welfare. Potential applicants should be able to demonstrate an effective use of volunteers, seek to be preventative and aim to change opinion and behavior by raising awareness of issues, education, and campaigning and can demonstrate (where feasible) an element of self-sustainability by charging subscriptions/fees to service users. The Trust only makes grants for core funding. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
