Mary Black Foundation
DescriptionThe Foundation was founded from the sale of a hospital in South Carolina. The Foundation funds two initiatives: healthy eating/active living and early childhood development. Healthy eating grants support programs and projects that address the availability and affordability of fresh, healthy foods in communities, schools, workplaces, and places of worship, regardless of income and geographic location. Active living grants support programs and projects that integrate physical activity into daily routines. Early childhood development grants support efforts that address children’s relationships with families and other caregivers; children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development; and adolescent pregnancy and improving birth outcomes. Grants are awarded to organizations focused on improving the health and wellness of the people and communities of Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Before submitting an application, the Foundation requests that potential applicants meet with the Foundation’s program staff. Visit the Web site for additional information.
