Weavers’ Company Benevolent Fund
Category: International
DescriptionThe Fund was set up in 1973 with funds from The Worshipful Company of Weavers, which is the oldest City of London Livery Company. The Fund supports work in the following areas: young offenders, prisoners and ex-prisoners, and young disadvantaged people, especially those at risk of criminal involvement. The Fund defines “young people” as those ages 5 to 30. Applications are welcomed for pump-priming grants from small, community-based organizations where grants would form a major element of the funding. Those ineligible for grants include organizations that work with children under 5 years of age, universities and colleges, medical charities or those involved in medical care; organizations of and for people with disabilities, including learning and physical disabilities; environmental projects; and those that work in promotion of religious or physical causes. Application instructions and additional information can be found on the Web site.
