Description

The Program, an initiative of the California Coastal Commission, supports projects that teach California’s children and the general public to value and take action to improve the health of the state’s marine and coastal resources. Grants are awarded for projects in one of the following categories: shoreline cleanup and enhancement programs; youth education programs; or programs educating the general public. Priority is given to projects that reach communities that are currently poorly served in terms of marine and coastal education. Applicants also have the option to request funding under two special sub-categories: 1) projects addressing climate change as it relates to the ocean or coastline or 2) grants for organizations with annual operating budgets of $500,000 or less that are working with underserved communities. Applicants may be a nonprofit, a school or school district, or a government entity. Projects must serve audiences in California. Additional information can be found on the California Coastal Commission’s Web site.
