Description

Formerly known as the Special Hope Foundation, the Foundation provides financial support to organizations that promote the establishment of comprehensive healthcare for adults with developmental disabilities. Healthcare should address their unique and fundamental needs. The Foundation defines comprehensive health care as healthcare that provides for all patient needs at all stages of life. The goal of this type of healthcare is usually to keep patients fit and healthy and to encourage people to address medical needs as soon as they arise, rather than waiting for them to become serious. But the Foundation also supports services to treat acute, chronic, and terminal conditions. There are no restrictions for applying for a grant based on geography although the Foundation does give preference to applications from the San Francisco Bay area. To begin the grant proposal process, applicants must complete a pre-application questionnaire. Additional information including a definition of acceptable programs can be found on the Web site.
