Keta Legacy Foundation

DescriptionThe Foundation, formerly known as the Mountaineers Foundation, combines dedication to conservation and a desire to connect others to healthy ecosystems into a multi-purpose strategy. Through its community grants program, the Foundation supports conservation-focused nonprofits whose programs and activities preserve and protect environments and living organizations of the Salish Sea region, the intricate network of coastal mountains, land, and waterways that include the southwestern portion of the Canadian province of British Columbia and the northwestern portion of Washington State. The region’s major bodies of water include the Strait of Georgia, The Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Puget Sound. The Foundation’s Paul Wiseman Conservation Education Grant program will support two projects with the potential to preserve and protect the Salish Sea region. One award will be given to a substantial project that envisions significant environmental education benefits with carefully articulated goals and outcomes; the other will be given in support of a restoration project with a strong educational research component.
