DescriptionThe Foundation’s Food Grants seek to ameliorate food insecurity in Santa Barbara County, Calif. The grants Program defines food insecurity as a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live and active and healthy life. The Program will award grants to organizations that directly provide programs that address food insecurity, that demonstrate sustained and/or increased demand for their programs; are taking steps to sustain or expand organizational capacity to address that demand; have adopted a holistic approach to serving their clients, either by itself or in partnership with others; can demonstrate the cultural competence of its volunteers, staff, and board members with respect to the communities service; address barriers that prevent access to services; and are developing strategies to address the root causes of food insecurity.
