Strong Foundation For Environmental Values

Description

The Foundation educates, assists, nurtures, and sustains local grassroots organizations working to build an ethic of environmental stewardship in their communities. The Foundation awards small competitive grants to innovative local projects in Northern California with the potential to benefit present and future generations. Grants will be awarded to organizations engaged in environmental and conservation efforts, eco-spirituality, grassroots action, environmental education, capacity building, citizen participation, collaborative efforts, planning and training, and climate change action. Eligible candidates must have an annual operating budget of no more than $600,000. The Foundation will only support projects in Northern California, with a focus on the Central Valley and Sierra Nevada, including the entire California-Oregon Klamath River watershed and the watersheds that arise in the Sierras and terminate in Nevada’s terminal lakes. The Foundation defines Northern California from the Oregon border south to and ending at the northern boundaries of San Luis Obispo, Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino.
