Description

The Foundation was named for the founder and president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (a predecessor union to Workers United, SEIU). The Foundation honors journalists, writers, and public figures who pursue investigative journalism and public policy for the common good. The Foundation’s Hillman Prizes is an annual program that honors investigative journalism and commentary in the public interest. The Prizes will be awarded for work produced, published, broadcast, or exhibited in 2019. Categories include books (nonfiction); newspaper reporting (print or online); magazine reporting (print or online); broadcast journalism (video or radio programs longer than 20 minutes and documentary film); Web journalism (online multimedia reporting by an individual or an institution with a substantial visual component as well as text); and opinion journalism (commentary or analysis in any medium). Although the contest is open to journalists and subjects worldwide, work must have been published in the United States. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
