DescriptionNamed after Gary Knisely and his wife Varian, who died in 2011, the Foundation was created in 2017 to improve society by using the arts as educational tools. The Foundation supports individual development and related community impact through the use of a range of artistic media such as the visual arts, music, and dance. The targeted programs will be on the wish lists of established nonprofits; big ideas with great potential but as of yet, unfunded and, by consequence, untested. With first-year funding, the Foundation expects measurable results will be achieved to attract sustaining funding from other sources. The Foundation invites letters of interest until Oct. 1, 2019; based on the submissions, the Foundation will request proposals for two grants by Nov. 1, 2019.
