The Fund is dedicated to supporting grassroots community organizations tackling the social, environmental, and economic justice issues in the rural South. The Fund defines the rural South as the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Fundís regular grant cycle helps organizations increase their capacity to address a variety of issues including education reform, immigrant rights, voter engagement, economic reform, juvenile justice, healthcare reform, and labor rights. Eligible applicants must be rural community groups in the Southeastern United States, self-governed by members of the targeted rural population, and organizing on issues of social, economic, and environmental justice that enables community members to become decision makers.
