DescriptionThe Organizationís mission is to promote environmental and social corporate responsibility through shareholder advocacy, coalition building, and innovative legal strategies. Funded by settlements form the Organizationís enforcement of Californiaís Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, grants support nonprofits throughout the state of California that address toxics reduction, environmental education, protection of communities, and enforcement. Priority is given to proposals in the following areas: enforcement of California state consumer- and environment-related laws; consumer education on the risks of toxic exposure and their right to know what goes into consumer products; toxics education, reduction, and protection in underrepresented and underserved communities. While nonprofits in California are the first priority, the Organization will consider proposals from organizations located outside of the state if the project or organization is focused on California.
