The Henry Smith Charity

DescriptionThe Charity was founded in 1628 by a London businessman and is currently the largest independent grantmaker in the United Kingdom. The Charity’s Holiday Grants Programme provides recreational trips and holidays for groups of children age 13 and younger in the United Kingdom who are disabled or disadvantaged. Schools, youth groups, and nonprofit organizations and charities are eligible to apply. The Charity prioritizes applications that will benefit disadvantaged or disabled children living in the most deprived areas of the United Kingdom. The Charity will not fund overseas trips or holidays; trips for children over the age of 13; trips to pantomimes, theme parks, or similar high cost attractions; trips that focus on education rather than fun; multiple trips, trips for families or for individual children; or the running costs of play or holiday schemes.
