J.m. Kaplan Fund
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Fund supports the publication of nonfiction books focused on the arts, history, and the natural and built environment. The Fund’s Alice Award, established in 2013, honors illustrated books. The award is intended to buttress the kind of slow reading movement that recognizes and cherishes the lasting values of the well-made illustrated book and the special sense of intimacy such a book affords. The $25,000 Award is given to a richly illustrated book that makes a valuable contribution to its field. Books selected for the short list will receive $5,000. Books focused on the fine arts, natural and built environments, and related public issues will be considered. Organizations may submit up to two books annually.
