Local Initiatives Support Corporation
DescriptionThe Corporation has partnered with ESPN for the RePlay Program. The Program is a national effort to revitalize vacant spaces into places for sports, recreation, and play. Because research identifies vacant lots as one of the factors that contribute to the cycle of poverty, increased police calls, lower property value sin surrou8nding neighborhoods and reduction in neighborhood pride, transforming vacant lots into usable spaces offer a unique opportunity for local community members to come together to take ownership over the spaces in which they live and work. The Program supports both planning and implementation projects with grants of up to $10,000 for planning and up to $75,000 for implementation. Eligible projects must serve low- to moderate-income neighborhoods in Atlanta, Detroit, Toledo, or Oakland and must be led by a nonprofit with 501©3 status. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
