DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking on two areas: the performing arts and healthy aging. The Foundationís core mission in the performing arts is to support performing companies and presenters who deliver work of the highest artistic quality in the fields of dance, music, opera, and theater. The Foundation also supports program so professional education and development for students pursuing the performing arts as a career, and for young professionals. Each year, the Foundation also awards a limited amount of special project grants to help the performing arts community address important issues such as the effect of AIDS on the performing arts community, audience development, access for the disabled, and other topics. The Foundationís health aging grants fund patient-based and social service activities that directly help the elderly of New York City. It helps to improve the way health and social services are delivered by providing support for innovative, effective, efficient, and caring organizations.
