DescriptionThe Foundation seeks to serve the needs of the underprivileged and provide resources for organizations. Founded by the founder of CIT Financial Corporation, the Foundation focuses its grantmaking on nonprofits dedicated to bettering the United States. It awards grants for new initiatives and model projects that have the potential to greatly enhance public policy and the lives of fellow citizens. Grants are awarded in the areas of mental health, AIDS, and the environment. The Foundation annually alternates its new grantmaking between its mental health, AIDS and environmental program areas.
