Lumpkin Family Foundation
Category: Regional
DescriptionThe Foundation was created from the estate of Besse A. Lumpkin of Mattoon, Ill. The Foundation is a milt-generation, family-governed organization whose programs reflect the collective aspirations of a diverse family living in communities across the country. The Foundation makes grants and conduct programs that support people working together to build healthy, sustainable communities in East Central Illinois and beyond. Grants are awarded to programs and projects in East Central Illinois where the family operated a business for more than 100 years. However, the Foundation also looks at the world holistically through a systems lens and directs resources elsewhere when it aligns with the Foundation’s goals. Much of the grantmaking supports collaboration and networks to support learning, develop understanding of issues, and encourage work across organizations and sectors. Some additional information including an online grant form can be found on the Web site.
