Astraea Lesbian Foundation For Justice
DescriptionThe Foundation is the only philanthropic organization working exclusively to advance lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) human rights around the globe. The Foundation supports brilliant and brave grantee partners in the United States and internationally who challenge oppression and seed change. The Foundation works for racial, economic, social, and gender justice. The Foundation awards grants through four funds: U.S. Fund, International Fund, Intersex Fund, and Global Arts Fund. The U.S. Fund supports organizations led by LGBTQI people of color working to advance racial and economic justice. Grantmaking priorities focus largely on the themes of anti-criminalization and migrant justice. Grants in the International Fund support groups led by LGBTIQ communities working for progressive social change, addressing oppression based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity and expression, and advancing work for racial, economic, and gender justice. The Intersex Fund supports organizations, projects and timely campaigns led by intersex activists working to ensure human rights, bodily autonomy, physical integrity, and self-determination of intersex people. The Global Arts Fund supports, showcases, and connects impactful art by LGBTQI people and organizations that are using art as a toll for social transformation. Grantees in the Global Fund category have limited access to resources for this critical work. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
