DescriptionBased in Finland, the Foundation’s vision is a world where people with disabilities are aware of their human rights and act for the realization of those rights as well as are in every way equal to their fellow human beings. The Foundation channels funding to projects that are planned, implemented, and monitored by people with disabilities in developing countries with an emphasis on grassroots organizations. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on organizations in developing countries that work and make decisions in a democratic way. Countries supported by grants include Tanzania, Palestine, Syria, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Somaliland, Sierra Leone, Krygyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Myanmar, Vietnam, Nepal, Kosovo, and Uganda. Grantmaking supports grants that support empowerment and independent living, human rights, employment, girls and women, and children. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
