Description

The Foundation is dedicated to nurturing the music talent of tomorrow, preserving the legacy of the past, and sustaining the creative incentive for today’s creators. It seeks to accomplish this through a variety of educational, professional, and humanitarian programs and activities that serve the entire music community. The Foundation, along with the Herb Alpert Foundation, supports the Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards, a program that is designed to encourage talented young jazz composers. Applicants must submit an original score or chart of one composition accompanied by a CD indicating proper track (if applicable). Winning submissions will receive a cash prize to be shared equally among the co-writers of the musical work or composition. Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or enrolled as a student in the United States and have a student visa. Applicants must also be under the age of 30 as of December 31, 2018. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
