Description

The Foundation supports educational and youth-serving organizations in the Minneapolis area along with many nonprofits in the arts and social service arenas. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on smaller groups, those with operating budgets of $3 million or less. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on two distinct populations: youth and the elderly. Youth grants are awarded to create opportunities for middle school and high school age youth to achieve productive and independent lives. Youth grants are focused on programs and projects that support the needs of economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth. Grants are awarded for in-school and after-school programs that encourage character development, support academic success, and foster social and emotional well-being. It also supports youth participation in arts programs that incorporate youth development goals. Grants for senior programs seek to foster the vital aging of seniors. Grants support programs and services which help seniors to live engaged and independent lives. The Foundation has a focus on the needs of economically disadvantaged seniors and the frail elderly. Grants are awarded to nonprofits located in and serving the City of Minneapolis and the western suburban communities of Minneapolis. The deadline is for the senior grant program.
