Description

The Company has launched Prevention Minnesota, a long-term health improvement initiative designed to tackle the root causes of the most preventable and costliest diseases – tobacco use, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition. Funded by the money from the tobacco company lawsuit, the initiative is designed for all Minnesotans. Its intention is to reduce smoking rates by 50 percent, reduce the exposure to secondhand smoke by 90 percent, increase physical activity by 50 percent, and increase healthy eating by 100 percent. The Company invites proposals from applicants who are working in their communities to increase the physical activity levels of sedentary and insufficiently active adult Minnesotans by enhancing access to and providing social support for physical activities. Eligible applicants including nonprofits, local government agencies, employers, and coalitions. Proposals must be postmarked between March 1, 2006 and Sept. 29, 2006. Potential applicants should complete and mail the Intent to Apply form found on the Web site at least 30 days before submitting a proposal. Additional information is available on the Web site.
