Presbyterian Committee On The Self-development Of People

Category

: Religion

Description

The Committee is a ministry that affirms God’s concern for humankind. The Committee enters into partnerships with community groups of low-income people that want to change their lives and communities. The Committee participates in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people who are seeking to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression, and injustice. The Committee currently supports United States-based groups who are oppressed by poverty and social systems, want to take charge of their own lives, are organizing to do something about their own conditions, and have decided that what they are going to do will produce long-term changes in their lives or communities. Eligible applicants are those whose projects are presented, owned, and controlled by the groups of people who will directly benefit from them. Projects should utilize some combination of the Self Development of People’s core strategies to promote justice, build solidarity, advance human dignity, and advocate for economic equity. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
