Description

The Trust awards grants to qualifying public charities that persuasively demonstrate a strong connection between their missions, programs, and/or projects and one or more of the Trust’s five values. The Trust supports programs or projects promoting “THISS” – thrift, humility, industry, self-sacrifice, and/or self-sufficiency. Programs or projects that relieve human suffering; develop individual self-esteem and dignity; encourage vigorous athletic activity and/or develop regional solutions to Chicago’s regional challenges are the Trust’s remaining four values. The Trust makes grants to organizations that primarily serve the residents of Chicago and Cook County, Ill. For organizations whose annual budgets are less than $1 million and the request is for $5,000 or less, applicants are encouraged to apply for the Trust’s Small Grant program. Letters of inquiry are accepted. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
