Save The Redwoods League
The League’s mission is to protect and restore redwood forests and connect people with their peace and beauty. The League’s education grants will be awarded to projects in grades Pre-K through college that provide youth with engaging, firsthand experiences of redwood forests; connect youth who would not normally have the opportunity to visit a redwood forest through culturally relevant projects that reflect the changing demographics of California and the United States; and/or encourage classroom teachers to teach about redwoods as a topic and use the redwood forest as a laboratory to master state content standards through curriculum developments or continuing education opportunities. Topics may include, but are not limited to, redwood forest characteristics, redwood ecology, redwood forest dependent species, and redwood forest stewardship. Applicants may choose to focus their projects on either the coast redwoods or the giant sequoias. The education grants will support projects that fall into one of the following two categories: redwood visit – a one-day field trip experience in a redwood forest or forest immersion – three- to five-day field experiences in a redwood forest. Additional details about each of the project areas and additional information can be found on the Web site.
