DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking in the following areas of interest: education, health, cultural development and community service. Preference is given to organizations in Oklahoma but the Foundation recognizes that those organizations located outside of the state and region can also have a beneficial impact on the economic, social, and cultural growth and development of Oklahoma. The Foundation also accepts grant requests from nonprofits in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas. The Foundation will also accept requests from the Washington, D.C. area. Generally, the Foundation awards funds in the form of Challenge Grants. Organizations approved for a grant must first, in order to receive payment of the grant amount from the Kerr Foundation, raise or secure grants, donations, and pledges in the total amount specified in the grant.
