Description

The Program is an initiative of the California Coastal Commission. It distributes funds from sales o the Whale Tail Coastal Protection License Plate and from donations to the “Protect Our Coast and Oceans Fund” listed on the California state tax form. The Program’s objective is to support projects that teach California’s children and the general public to value and to take action on to improve the health of the state’s marine and coastal resources. Grants are awarded in the following categories: Adopt-A-Beach programs, youth programs or programs for the general public including projects addressing climate change or ocean acidification. Priority is given to projects that reach communities that are currently poorly served in terms of marine and coastal education. Nonprofits, schools, and government entities may apply.
