DescriptionThe Foundation was founded by the former president of Alcoa with the purpose of supporting organizations that strive to improve the quality of life. The Foundation focuses the majority of its grantmaking in three areas: community development, the environment, and youth violence prevention. The Foundation awards two types of grants: general grants and initiative grants. Most of the U.S. grants are awarded to organizations on the East Coast. The Foundation receives letters of inquiry year round. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
