Description

The Fund supports social services, health care and human services, the arts, education, and environmental issues. Social services grants provide safety nets and supports for under-resourced and low-income communities. Health and human services grants support programs that provide subsidized, low-cost, or free healthcare for the uninsured and under-insured of all ages as well as access to mental health and low or free-cost dental services, assistance for disabled individuals or other populations with specific challenges, and services for the elderly. Environmental grants are primarily focused on conservation efforts to protect wildlife, the preservation of natural areas and public interest environmental law. Education grants fund exceptional early childhood, school age, high school, and college programs; after-school programs; adult continuing education; and educational opportunities for adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Arts and culture grants are designated for arts/cultural access for under-privileged populations such as subsidized entry to museums or other cultural sites or events. The Fund requests letters of inquiry of new applicants. The Fund makes most of its grants in the state of Wisconsin and the Chicago metropolitan area but a portion of the Fund’s annual grantmaking budget is allocated to discretionary grants in geographic areas across the United States and abroad reflecting the interests of the directors. Additional information including an Introduction Form can be found on the Web site.
