DescriptionThe Foundation, founded in 1972 to promote international cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and other countries, accepts applications for projects that take place within the 37 states east of the Rocky Mountains. (For projects to be held in the other 13 states, contact the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.) Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to support projects that will further understanding of Japanese arts and culture. Priority will be given to projects that have secured additional funding from sources other than the Japan Foundation. Applicants must be nonprofits based in the United States. Projects on martial arts, medical, technical, or scientific projects are not eligible for funding under the Arts and Culture grants.
