Shubert Foundation

Category

: Arts & Culture

Description

The Foundation supports nonprofit, professional theater and dance companies in the United States. Nonprofit professional resident theater companies are the primary recipients of Shubert Foundation funding, with an emphasis on producing rather than presenting organizations. A smaller amount of funding is provided for dance companies. The Foundation also makes a limited number of grants to arts-related nonprofits that support the development of theater and dance and to graduate drama departments at private universities. Eligible grantees must have a record of artistic achievement; show the impact of the organization and its programs; have a record of developing both artists and new work; have administrative strength, fiscal stability, and the ability to generate both earned and contributed income. In addition, the organizations must have made other significant contributions to the field. The deadline for dance, arts-related, and education applications is October 15. The deadline for theater applications is December 15. Details on how to apply and an online application form can be found on the Web site.
