Description

The Foundation’s funding priorities are education, employment, environment, gun violence, and money and politics. Education grants are awarded to initiatives on teacher quality, early childhood, and innovation. Environment grants support projects that address getting energy from clean coal, the restoration of the Great Lakes, and healthy rivers and lakes. Employment grants promote employment stability, reinvent adult and developmental education, and evaluate employment strategies for previously incarcerated individuals. Grantmaking is targeted toward initiatives with a promise to impact the Great Lakes region, specifically Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The Foundation makes a limited number of environmental grants to Canadian organizations. Education grants are earmarked for organizations in Chicago, Cleveland, and Milwaukee. Letters of inquiry are requested.
