Description

The Foundation, part of the Foundation for the Carolinas, focuses its grantmaking on its Children and Youth grants Program. Grants are awarded to projects and programs that seek to achieve the results for the children and youth of Mecklenburg County. Programs serving birth-middle school should work to ensure that children enter school ready to learn; achieve at or above grade level; exhibit positive behaviors during out of school hours with an emphasis on educational, emotional, and/or social growth, and engage in healthy behaviors while avoiding risky or dangerous behaviors. Programs serving high school students should work to ensure that students exhibit positive behaviors during out-of-school hours with an emphasis on educational, emotional, and/or social growth; are prepared to enter/complete post-secondary education and/or identify a career path with the potential to earn a living wage, and engage in healthy behaviors while avoiding risky ones. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, congregations, governmental agencies and educational institutions with projects serving the children and youth of Mecklenburg County.
