Description

The Foundation applies entrepreneurial creativity and universal catholic values in the areas of health, education, and global development. Founded by entrepreneurs Gerald A. and Henrietta Rauenhorst, the creators of The Opus Group, a commercial real estate development firm, the Foundation seeks to affect transformational change in health, education, and global development. The Foundation’s health focus centers on turning the tide on Alzheimer’s disease and funds research to uncover successful prevention therapies. Under the education area, the Foundation invests in innovative, values-focused education to strengthen urban Catholic schools and private universities. Through its work in urban Catholic schools, the Foundation is working to bridge the achievement gap by increasing access and supporting academic excellence. Under the global development category, the Foundation takes an integrated approach to tacking complex challenges through initiatives that empower Catholic sisters, strengthen inter-religious approaches and promote children being raised in supportive family environments. The Foundation funds projects that pair local insights with global best practices to create sustainable development solutions. Priority is given to approaches that are entrepreneurial, faith-based, scalable, localized, and partnering. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
