John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation

Category

: Arts & Culture

Description

The Foundation, funded by former United States Senator and Mrs. Simon Guggenheim, in memory of their 17-year-old son, Simon, in 1925, has sought to add to the educational, literary, artistic, and scientific power of the country and to provide for the cause of better international understanding. The Foundation provides fellowships for advanced professionals in all fields – including the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and creative arts. The sole exception is the performing arts. The fellowships are intended for individuals who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts. The program seeks to further the development of scholars and artists by helping them engage in research in any field of knowledge or artistic creation of any of the arts, under the freest possible conditions. Details about the areas funded and how to apply as well as additional information can be found on the Web site. The deadline is for grant applications from the United States and Canada.
