Description

The Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the grocery Retailer, supports causes that impact its customers’ lives. Giving is focused on the following areas: health and human services, hunger relief, education, and helping people living with disabilities. Health and human services grants support organizations engaged in health research and nutritional programs, specifically those targeting medical research and programs that improve the lives of people living with cancer. Hunger relief grants support food banks and feeding programs in the neighborhoods the stores serve. Education grants support youth development organizations, after school and physical education programs. Disabilities grants support regional and national programs that assist people with disabilities. The Foundation has three funding streams: local community funds, requests from corporate employees, and national programs. National giving supports projects; the Foundation prefers its money to be invested directly in the community. National requests are channeled through the Foundation’s headquarters in California. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
