Description

The Organization supports grassroots nonprofits in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut whose programs use the arts as a catalyst to transform the lives of children in underserved communities. The Organization believes that the arts have the power to create new opportunities, build self-confidence, and ultimately change the lives of children it serves. Funded programs fall into three areas: art therapy, arts education, and arts for social change. Art therapy grants supports programs using formal therapy and licensed arts therapists to support individual and social growth of children experiencing mental or physical traumas. Arts education grants supports programs using the arts in or out of school that support individual, interpersonal, academic, vocational, or civic outcomes for youth. Grants in the arts for social change category support program using the arts as a mechanism by which youth are contributing to community development, social changes, and/or social justice efforts.
