Description

The Foundation, in partnership with the Alaska Native Steering Committee, launched the Alaska Native Fund in 2011 to advance Alaska Native priorities for protecting Alaska Native land and sustaining indigenous ways of life. The Fund provides an indigenous framework for impacting critical environmental issues while promoting strategies to strengthen the capacity of Alaska Native organizations and communities. Grants will be awarded to organizations and individuals working in the areas of climate change, food security, sustainable economies, energy, or holistic wellness. All projects must have incorporated into them one of the following: policy development, leadership, youth organizing, communication and technology, art and expression, and gathering. Alaskan Native tribes, Alaska Native nonprofit organizations, organizations with an Alaska Native majority on the council or board of directors, Alaska Native individuals with a fiscal sponsor, and organizations working to create impact at the community, regional, or statewide level are eligible to apply. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
