Running Strong For American Indian Youth
Category: Children, Youth & Families
DescriptionThe Organization’s mission is to help American Indian people meet their immediate survival needs – food ,water, and shelter – while implementing and supporting programs designed to create opportunities for self-sufficiency and self-esteem. The Organization’s Dreamstarter grants are awarded to teams made up of one young American Indian and one nonprofit organization who will act as a mentor and work with the youth to implement a project inspired by the young person’s dream for his/her community. Through 2020, the Organization will provide 10 $10,000 grants each year targeting a specific theme. American Indian youth Dreamstarters must be under age 30 at the time of application deadline and enrolled members in either federally or state recognized American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian communities in the U.S. Each selected Dreamstarter will also receive a $500 award at the end of the grant period. At the end of the five year grant period, the Organization will choose five Dreamstarter projects from the 50 Dreamstarters and award each an additional $50,000 grant. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
